Steps to set up your election and ballot

Step One: Sign in to your teacher dashboard. The sign in email is the one you used to sign up your school. Forgot your password? No problem. Just click on the password link. Forgot which email you used to sign up? Email Nancy Rose at nrose@ednc.org with your name and school and I will look it up for you.

Under Add New Simulation Election, Select 2020 General Election in the Dropdown menu

Click Create Election: This will bring up the ballot selection screen. Here you can change the early voting date and select all races or check off only the races you want on your ballot.

You can add additional contests, if needed: either partisan or nonpartisan. Here is how you would add a partisan race.

Here is how you would add a nonpartisan race.

You can also add referendum and school-wide yes/no questions.

When you have selected all the races you want on the ballot, added any custom contests and/or additional questions, you click on Save & Preview Ballot. It will look something like this:

If you are satisfied with how the ballot looks, click Submit For Review. Otherwise, you can click on Edit Election and make changes.

When your ballot is in the review process, your teacher dashboard will look like this:

If you forgot something, or want to make a change while the ballot is under review, click on the TECHHELP link and let us know how we can help.

When the ballot is approved, your teacher dashboard will look like this:

After your ballot is approved, you can no longer make changes to your election. If you find you need changes before voting begins, please contact us using the TECHHELP link. No changes can be made after voting begins.

Until the early voting day, your precinct (school) URL will look like this:

Voting

Once voting begins, that same URL will show the Vote Now button. This will appear during the Poll hours from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday-Friday during the voting period.

You can find the URL for your school by clicking on the Voting link in your teacher dashboard. We will also email out your school’s link prior to October 15th standard early voting date.

This is the URL you will distribute to your students.

Results

On November 4th, we will email you a link to your individual school’s results. You will be able to find the full mock election results by clicking on the Mock Election Results link on the First Vote NC homepage.

New this year: We have added the ability to hide the Results by Exit Poll for your Precinct. We added this feature for privacy reasons. Some of our schools have a small population or only a few classes voting. We want to avoid a situation where a student could possibly be identified.

Here is where you can hide the Explore Results by Exit Poll for your precinct. This option will appear after voting has begun.
