1. Introduction.
First Vote NC is EducationNC's online, simulated election experience for students. The First Vote NC initiative creates an online, simulated election with a customized ballot.
Following the close of the simulated election, First Vote NC will post online the results of the election in aggregate. The total simulated election results may be broken down further by demographics.
First Vote NC (“us”, “we”, or “our”) operates the https://www.firstvotenc.org website (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, disclosure, and protection of your information when you use our Service. We will not use or share your information except as described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Definitions.
“Personal Information” includes information that alone or when in combination with other information may be used to readily identify, contact, or locate you (e.g., name, address, telephone number, email address, and location). We do not consider Personal Information to include information that has been anonymized so that it does not allow a third- party to easily identify a specific individual.

A “Participant ” is a student who participates in First Vote NC simulation elections.
3. Information Collection and Use.
Log Data — We collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit our Service. In addition, we may use third-party services that collect, monitor and analyze this type of information in order to improve our Service’s functionality. These third-party service providers have their own privacy policies addressing how they use such information. Information on our third-party service providers will be made available upon request.
Cookies and Related Technologies — Cookies, pixel tags, web beacons or other similar technologies are sent to your browser from a website and transferred to your device. We may use these technologies to collect information in order to improve our Service. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. The “Help” feature on most browsers provides information on how to accept cookies, disable cookies or to notify you when receiving a new cookie. If you do not accept cookies, you may not be able to use some features of our Service, and we recommend that you leave them turned on.
Do Not Track Disclosure — Some browsers include a “Do Not Track” preference to inform websites that you do not want to be tracked. Tracking means collecting information from users of a website as they move across the Internet to different websites over time. It is not the same as using or collecting information in connection with a single website. While we limit our collection and use of Personal Information according to this Policy, the “Do Not Track” signal is not uniform, and our website may not be set up to interpret or respond to “Do Not Track” signals communicated by your browser.
Participants’ Personal Information — We do not collect Personal Information from Participants. We only collect Participants’ responses to simulation election ballots and exit poll surveys, which includes demographic information such as grade, gender, and race/ethnicity. Demographic information collected in the exit poll surveys may be displayed in aggregate to illustrate participation data for each contest.
4. Children’s Online Privacy
We support the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) and minimize the information gathered from and disseminated about children under the age of 13.
If a parent has questions or concerns about their child’s use of the Service, we encourage the parent to contact us at info@ednc.org.

These third-parties may have access to Personal Information only to perform specific tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use Personal Information for any other purpose.
Compliance with Laws — We will disclose Personal Information where required to do so by law or subpoena or if we believe that such action is necessary to comply with the law and the reasonable requests of law enforcement or to protect the security or integrity of our Service.
Aggregate Data — We may allow our affiliates, vendors, and suppliers to have access to aggregate statistics about our users, traffic patterns, and related Service information. These aggregate statistics do not include Personal Information.
